Best Practices for Success
Online games for kids can be safe, but safety depends a lot on which games they use and how closely adults supervise. How “kids’ game” sites are usually made safer because they have no open chat with strangers, don’t allow kids to share personal info (name, address, school, etc.) and use moderation and filters if they have comments or usernames. They often have no public friend systems or private messaging so these kinds of sites are usually low-risk for predators.
Games with open chat (text or voice), Games with friend lists, private messages, or guilds/clan’s platforms where kids and adults mix (e.g., some big multiplayer games, not just “kids’ sites”).
Watch for Warning signs:
Anyone asking for age, school, city, photos, or videos
Someone wanting kids to move to another app (WhatsApp, Discord, Snapchat, etc.) There are requests to keep things “secret” from parents
Offering gifts, game money, or “special status” in exchange for pictures or favors. There should be an immediate stop + tell an adult.
